Community Guidelines & Fair Play Policy
1. Purpose
Contour is a competitive location-based game built around exploration, territory capture, challenges, and leaderboards.
These Community Guidelines & Fair Play Policy ("Guidelines") describe the standards expected of all players and explain how Contour protects the integrity of gameplay.
These Guidelines supplement the Contour Terms of Service and should be read together with our Privacy Policy. Contour is intended only for users eighteen (18) years of age or older.
Violations may result in warnings, score adjustments, territory removal, challenge reversals, suspensions, or permanent account bans.
2. Our Philosophy
Contour is designed around exploration, competition, fair play, respect for others, respect for property, and respect for local laws. We want players to compete aggressively within the game while behaving responsibly in the real world.
3. Respect Other Players
Treat other players with respect. You may not:
- Harass, threaten, bully, stalk, or intimidate players;
- Encourage self-harm or engage in hateful conduct;
- Target individuals for abuse;
- Impersonate another person;
- Use an offensive, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or deceptive username or display name;
- Use a username or display name that impersonates another person, brand, or Contour staff.
We may remove, reclaim, or require you to change any username or display name that violates these Guidelines.
Because Contour is competitive, disagreements may occur. Competitive gameplay is not harassment by itself. However, conduct that targets individuals outside normal gameplay may violate these Guidelines.
4. No Doxxing or Privacy Abuse
You may not share another person's private information, attempt to discover another player's identity, or publish addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, workplace information, or family information.
Contour does not reveal real-time player locations. Attempts to identify or track other players outside normal gameplay may result in immediate suspension.
5. Respect Property and Local Laws
Contour does not authorize entry onto any property. You remain responsible for your actions. You may not trespass, enter restricted areas, enter closed facilities, enter construction zones, enter private property without permission, or enter locations where access is prohibited.
You must obey local, state, and federal laws, posted restrictions, and property-owner requirements. Gameplay never overrides legal obligations.
6. Safe Play Requirements
Do not play while driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks requiring full attention. Always remain aware of traffic, pedestrians, hazards, and environmental conditions. If gameplay conflicts with safety, choose safety.
7. Fair Play Requirements
Players must compete using legitimate gameplay. You may not manipulate location data, devices, accounts, or software to gain an unfair advantage. All territory, scores, rankings, achievements, and challenge outcomes must be earned through legitimate play.
8. GPS Spoofing Prohibited
The following are prohibited: GPS spoofing, mock-location applications, fake GPS tools, simulated routes, artificial movement generation, teleportation tools, and location manipulation software. Any attempt to falsify location information may result in immediate enforcement action.
9. Bots, Automation, and Scripts
You may not use bots, automation software, scripts, macros, auto-clickers, automated route systems, or device farms. Gameplay must be performed by a real person.
10. Account Sharing
Accounts are personal. You may not share, borrow, rent, sell, or transfer accounts. Multiple users operating the same account may result in account restrictions or termination.
11. Exploits and Bug Abuse
If you discover a bug, report it. You may not intentionally exploit scoring, territory, challenge, leaderboard, reward, or referral bugs. Repeated exploitation may result in permanent bans.
12. Challenge Abuse
Challenges are intended to create healthy competition. You may not manipulate challenge outcomes, coordinate fraudulent challenge activity, create multiple accounts to influence challenge results, or exploit scoring systems to produce artificial challenge outcomes. Contour may review and reverse challenge results when abuse is detected.
13. Referral Program Abuse
Referral programs are intended to attract legitimate new players. You may not create fake accounts, refer yourself, use automated registrations, manipulate referral systems, or generate fraudulent referrals. Referral rewards may be revoked if abuse is detected.
14. Territory, Scores, and Leaderboards
Territory ownership, rankings, and scores are gameplay features. Contour reserves the right to correct errors, adjust scores, remove territory, reverse captures, recalculate rankings, reset seasons, or revoke rewards. Players do not acquire ownership rights in any gameplay status.
15. How We Detect Cheating
Contour may use location consistency analysis, route analysis, device integrity indicators, gameplay pattern analysis, behavioral analysis, automated systems, and manual review. We are not required to disclose specific anti-cheat methods.
16. Enforcement Actions
Violations may result in one or more of the following:
Warning
We may notify a player of a suspected violation.
Territory Removal
Illegitimate territory may be removed.
Score Adjustment
Scores may be reduced or reset.
Challenge Reversal
Challenge outcomes may be voided or reversed.
Reward Revocation
Rewards may be removed.
Temporary Suspension
Accounts may be suspended for a defined period.
Permanent Ban
Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent account termination.
17. Reporting and Appeals
Reporting a Player or Violation
To report another player, an offensive or impersonating username, or any conduct that violates these Guidelines, contact contoursupport@gmail.com with relevant details, such as the username and a description of the conduct. We review reports and take appropriate action. For privacy reasons, we may not be able to share the outcome of a report concerning another user. You can also block another player from within the app; blocking prevents that player from sending you challenges. Contour has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. We act on valid reports of objectionable usernames or abusive behavior, typically within 24 hours, by removing the offending content and/or removing the responsible user from the Service.
Appeals
If you believe an enforcement action was made in error, you may contact contoursupport@gmail.com. Submission of an appeal does not guarantee reversal. Contour reserves final authority over enforcement decisions except where prohibited by law.
18. Changes to These Guidelines
We may modify these Guidelines from time to time. Updated versions may be published through the application, the website, or other reasonable means. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Guidelines.
